Davide Dassio was born in 1965 in Genoa, where he graduated in medicine and he specialised in ophtalmology. He worked in several hospitals in Piedmont, Italy, before moving to France, first in Évian and then in Lille where he currently lives and works.
Since he was a child he played with his father and grandfather’s, camera, but it’s since the age of 20 that the camera became his trusty companion. Self taught, fascinated by the greatclassical photographers he starts dedicating himself to the black and white both in shooting and printing technique: this expressive language became almost exclusively to his production and will not stop in the digital switchover.
Passionate reader of art and photography books and regular visitors to exhibitions and museums, he complete his photographical and visual training with courses and workshops held by masters photographers including Michele Vacchiano and Lorenzo Avico, both from Turin.
Over the years, he has mastered different photographic techniques and styles until he reaches his personal language translating his own everyday feelings into rigorously composed images.
